vibrate!festival 2017 | EDITION III: “PULSE”

Brașov | 9-18 June 2017

Director’s Word

Dear friends,

The third edition of vibrate!festival is here, packed with new unique encounters. Subtitled ”Pulse”, this year’s edition proposes ten days of musical celebration of life, motion and rhythm. Passion, talent and innovation are the promise of this year’s invited ensemble Sinfonia Cymru, the vibrant chamber orchestra from Wales. Together with its members we go as far as proposing Vivaldi on clay, at Brașov’s Tenis Arena! At the Multicultural Centre we celebrate one of the most endeared contemporary composers in the world, Mark Anthony Turnage. Joining old friends of the festival Valeriy Sokolov, Pau Codina and Shiry Rashkovsky, new guests such as Teodora Gheorghiu and Sam Armstrong are gracing the stage in diverse collaborations, from traditional concert experiences to crossover.

Looking forward to it,

Vlad Maistorovici | director vibrate!festival

“What matters in art is to vibrate oneself and make others vibrate.”

(George Enescu)

What they say

I find that vibrate!festival is as much about music as it is about human solidarity, about art in its classical expression as well as innovation.

(The President of Romania, Mr. Klaus Werner Iohannis. Extract from the official message to the organizers and audience of the 2015 edition.)

Vlad decided to enhance the Romanian cultural life by making a beautiful festival here. I am extremely happy to spend a week here in Transylvania, Brașov is a fantastic, beautiful city and I think the right time and place for a festival.

(Valeriy Sokolov | violinist)

Always dreamed of coming to Transylvania - & now I'm here for the excellent vibrate!festival - beautiful part of the world & Brașov is probably the most picturesque city I've ever been to. Vibrate is definitely a festival to look out for - there's a real magic in the air.

(Gabriel Prokofiev | composer & DJ)

Great acoustics and excellent performances transported us in different worlds, compelling us for a few hours to live in the present. Because great performers have this gift – to hypnotise!

(Irina Vasilescu | Radio România Muzical)

The most satisfying concerts at the vibrate!festival were the site specific ones that managed to combine a sense of community with an excellence in music.

(Henrietta Foster | EUNIC Magazine, London)

A fine festival that enlightened the city for a week.
