NICOLAS RAGEAU: Parisian double bass player, with an intense international activity. He has collaborated and recorded with big names in jazz: Johnny Griffin, Benny Golson, Kenny Wheeler, Alain Jean-Marie, Valery Ponomarev, Peter Bernstein, Stéphane Belmondo, Paolo Fresu, Manu Katche, Michel Graillier, George Brown, Oliver Johnson, Frank Gant , Sara Lazarus. Settled in New York from 1994-2000, he became extremely active on the New York jazz scene. Together with saxophonist Grant Stewart, he created a French-American quartet, with which he had numerous tours in Europe. In 2006 he recorded the album “Made In France” in the same formula, an album that had a huge success in the press. In 2013, the double bassist released a new record in his own name “La Complainte De La Tour Eiffel” (with pianist Alain Jean-Marie and drummer Philippe Soirat), in which he presents subtle arrangements of French jazz music. Nicolas is present in various festivals both in France (Marciac, Montlouis, JVC / Paris La Villette, Munster, Rennes, etc.) and abroad (Spain, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Hungary, Romania, Saint Lucia, Canada , etc.). For several years he has been collaborating with the pianist Ramona Horvath, with whom he regularly performs on French and international stages, in various bands. Along with Ramona, Nicolas recorded three albums “XS Bird” in trio, “Lotus Blossom” in quartet and “Le Sucrier Velours” in duo.
