The first Jewish families arrived in Brașov in 1807 and almost a hundred years later, in 1901, the architect Leopold Baumhorn designed the Reformed Synagogue in a Neo-Gothic architectural style with exotic elements of Mudéjar. Heavily damaged during World War II, renovations were carried out in 2001 and today the synagogue with its intricate red and white facade takes its proud place on the list of Brașov historic monuments.
