About the venue:
The building, located on Liberty Sqaure nr.1, hosting the Hungarian Tamási Áron Theater, was built in 1856. This was the place where the town hall was located, in its ceremonial hall being held several theatrical performances. In 1899, István Bay urban engineer, together with the architect Kovács Sándor, turned it in a permanent theater hall. From 1912, beside the theater, the building also hosted the cinema of the city. The building was received by the Hungarian State Folk Theater, founded in 1948.
